1. Visit the Dubai Museum.

One of the most popular attractions in Dubai, the Dubai Museum is located in the 18th century Al Fahidi Fort, the oldest building in Dubai. Exhibits at the 4,000-square meter museum include displays about the culture and history of the country as well as local antiques and artifacts from countries that traded with the United Emirates.

2. Go shopping in the textile souk.

Dubai is known for its many souks, collections of small market stalls that comprise a comprehensive marketplace, usually devoted to a single type of goods. One of the largest and the most popular is the textile souk, where you can find a wide variety of colorful fabrics, such as raw silk, cotton and embroidered material, as well as ready-made outfits and notions like buttons and closures.

3. Stroll the Al Bastakiya historic area.

Dubai’s old town is filled with narrow, stone streets; quirky art galleries and houses build in the traditional architectural style. The neighborhood was extensively restored in 2005.

4. Window shop at the BurJuman mall.

With more than 200 retailers and restaurants, BurJuman mall has something for every taste and budget. In addition, this sprawling retail complex houses a cinema, a family entertainment complex and a Hypermarket. Inspired by Istanbul’s Blue Mosque, Al Farooq Omar bin Al Khattab Mosque is one of the largest mosques in Dubai and one of the few to welcome non-Muslims. The mosque, completed in 2011, is capable of accommodating more than 2,000 worshipers and features 21 domes and inscriptions from the 8th century Ottomans. Admission is free.
